About This Spot
Stepping into Rekado feels like entering a humble corner of the Philippines nestled right in Somerdale. The space is unpretentious and inviting, where the hum of conversation blends with the warm, familiar scents of slow-cooked stews and crispy lechon. It’s the kind of place where time seems to pause just a little, encouraging you to slow down and savor more than just the food.
Rekado’s atmosphere carries the easy comfort of a neighborhood spot — modest in size but rich in warmth and authenticity. Friendly faces behind the counter greet you with genuine smiles, hinting at the deep care poured into every dish. The pace here is relaxed; diners often linger, sharing moments over plates brimming with hearty portions and vibrant flavors that reflect home cooking at its most satisfying.
The menu invites discovery, presenting traditional Filipino flavors that feel both accessible and full of depth. Whether it’s the golden crunch of freshly cooked lechon kawali or the comforting richness of a well-spiced beef caldereta, each bite carries stories of family gatherings and Sunday lunches. The joy here also comes from the variety — daily changes and combination options mean there’s an opportunity to explore new tastes or revisit familiar favorites, all without fuss.
Beyond dining in, Rekado extends its embrace through a small Filipino grocery section, offering staples and treats that allow visitors to bring a slice of this culinary culture home. For those celebrating special occasions, the catering offerings provide a thoughtfully prepared spread that echoes the same home-style warmth found in the restaurant’s intimate setting.
This is a place best experienced without hurry — where the genuine hospitality, generous servings, and the evocative flavors of the Philippines create an understated but memorable escape from the everyday.

Rekado Filipino Cuisine is a gem! The food is always delicious, with different dishes offered daily, so there’s always something new to try. Prices are very affordable, and the portions are generous. In addition to the restaurant, they also have a Fil-Mart stocked with Filipino grocery items, plus a catering menu where you can order half or full trays for any occasion. Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere make this spot a must-visit!

My wife and I found this place online and wanted to try it out. We found it very good for the price. It was simple and the portions were generous. We wound up buying more snacks and empanadas to take home.

I got the combo for 13 dollars. I didn't know what anything was but got beef stew and coconut pork. The pieces of meat were plentiful. And the taste. It's home cooking, it's delicious really you gotta try this place out

This is my first time trying authentic Filipino food. We are from Philly. And my OG Filipino best friend told me that we have to go to this Filipino place in NJ. So we drove all the way to NJ for this place. And it is so worth it!!! I love the OG Filipino tatse! We ordered palabok, pinaket, bistek, lechon kawali, lumpiang shanghai, kaldereta, cassava cake, banana cue, and buko pandan. They are all so so yum!!!

New owners of Rekado (formerly Manila Cafe). Same great food! We had Lechon Kawali and it was very fresh and crispy. The curry chicken was ok. My favorite is the beef Caldereta! It's a very tiny place but you can eat there or take out

Cafeteria style Filipino food, quick, inexpensive! Lots of selection, tasty! The bbq chicken skewers are particularly good. They also sell some Filipino dry staples, condiments, toiletries. Try it!
